Centre is open the whole year, seven days a week in the following hours:

  • from 8:00 a.m. till 4 p.m. (November - March)
  • from 8:00 a.m. till 5 p.m. (April, October)
  • from 8:00 a.m. till 6 p.m. (May - September)

Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 8.00 a.m. till 4.00 p.m.

Information in the Town Hall building is open all year, seven days a week, in the following hours:

  • from 10:00 a.m. till 8 p.m. (July - August)


Tourist Information Centre was established in July 2002. Since the beginning of exist it operates within the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre.
CIT was created to build a comprehensive information base of the wider tourism.
The office is near Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum.

Main tasks of CIT are:
  • providing information the tourists who are visiting the town
  • distribution of information promoting the town, region and state (maps, guide books, and brochures)
  • a register the accommodation and restaurants
  • updating the information contained on the website CIT
  • updating the information contained in infoboxes - multimedia infoboxes located throughout the city
  • cooperating with institutions from the city and surrounding areas, which maintain a permanent international contacts and exchanges of young people;
  • cooperating with different tourist organizations which main purpose is to improve services of people who are visiting the town,
  • information about public, local and international transport
Moreover to the Centre are directed tourists who are interested in the rules of visiting Auschwitz and Birkenau Museum.

From November 2011 Tourist Information Centre is part of Malopolska Tourist Information System (MSIT).

On 20 July 2018, a new Tourist Information office was opened in the building of the 19th century Town Hall, at Rynek Główny 2.
